NOVI, MI - Kelly Breen has taken the formerly Republican 38th District seat in the Michigan House of Representatives.
The Novi city councilmember earned 31,217 votes, winning a 51.62% share of the total over Republican Chase Turner. The seat was formerly filled by state Rep. Kathy Crawford, R-Novi.
Breen wished Turner well “on his next journey” in a Twitter post declaring her triumph.
The 38th District includes Lyon Township, the city and township of Novi and Northville. Michigan Democrats focused on the district to chip away at the GOP majority in the state House. However, losses in Bay, Grand Traverse and Oakland counties ended hopes to overturn the majority.
