Open state House seats bring competitive primary races to Oakland County

LANSING — Oakland County has been shifting Democratic, and that shift, along with the impact of term limits, is producing competitive and hard-fought state House primaries on Aug. 4.

As Democrats hope to flip the state House, where Republicans won a 58-52 majority in the 2018 election, they have the open 38th and 45th districts in their sights, where Republican lawmakers Kathy Crawford of Novi and Michael Webber of Rochester Hills can't run again because of term limits.
